We are quickly approaching September and this year’s Know Your Numbers campaign will soon be upon us. Know Your Numbers! Week is the biggest blood pressure testing and awareness event in the UK.
This year’s campaign is all about knowing your blood pressure numbers to live a long and healthy life and Know Your Numbers Week 2019 will run from Monday 9th to Sunday 15th September.
Advances in healthcare mean that more people than ever are living to an older age. Blood Pressure UK wants to make sure that our later years are healthy and happy for everyone, free from disease and disability.
The message this year is that the key to a healthy later life is in keeping ourselves fit and healthy for as long as possible, making the most of the support available along the way.
One of the simplest things you can do to look after your health is to have a blood pressure check to make sure you know your blood pressure numbers.
High blood pressure is know as the ‘silent killer’ as the only way to know if you have high blood is by having a blood pressure check. High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and other illnesses. By having a quick and straightforward blood pressure check you can get support to control your blood pressure and help prevent diseases in the future.
Amazingly roughly a third of people in the UK have high blood pressure and yet most people are unaware they have it. There are no symptoms so having a simple blood pressure check really could save your life.
Throughout Know Your Numbers Week there will be a number of ‘Pressure Stations’ in Merton where people can go to get a FREE blood pressure check.
Please follow @OneYouMerton on Twitter and Facebook to find out when and where this year’s ‘Pressure Stations’ will be based.
