Walking groups
There are now a series of very popular free walking groups running at different locations across Merton and people of any age are welcome to go along and join the fun.
No bookings or reservations are required, everybody gets a warm welcome, pets and buggies are welcome and you can walk at any pace for as long or short as you like.
Walkers will often stay on after the walk to have a cup of tea or coffee together to get to know each other better and learn more about people in their local community.
These walks are run by The Walk and Talk Movement, founded by Andy Yates and Ali Palmer. The ethos of The Walk and Talk Movement is that it is a community for the community to help people to reconnect after the COVID-19 lockdowns. Their aim is to help communities and people to reconnect with each other and to promote the benefits of walking as a group to help physical and mental health and to help combat loneliness.
It is this ethos of wanting to bring people together that has helped create a thriving community of walkers across Merton and they are always happy to welcome new people to join them!
